Having worked as a fashion model for five years with internationally renowned model agencies Storm (London) and Elite (Paris) Paula Gowar became an interior designer in 1991.

Training with the one of the foremost furniture companies in the UK, she quickly moved through the ranks to become the influencer and specifier for all of the company’s 34 stores.

In 1994 she was nominated for Young Designer of the Year for her work on an apartment in The Belvedere, Chelsea Harbour – a project which was aired on the BBC television series 'Home Front Young Designer of the Year.'

Having a unique insight into where fashion converges with interiors, coupled with a vast knowledge of buildings, how they fit together and how to draw architectural plans, she set up Balance Design in December 1998. This year, Paula celebrates 14 years in the interior design industry.

She lives in London with her husband and two children.
